WyreStorm EXA-100-EARC 100m eARC Audio Extender Kit With S/PDIF, IR, RS-232 and CEC Pass-Through

The WyreStorm EXA-100-EARC is a dedicated eARC audio extender designed to bridge the gap between display equipment and AV amplification systems separated by distances of up to 100 metres. Transmitting eARC, ARC and S/PDIF audio over a single Cat cable, it supports high-resolution audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio, making it well suited to home theatre installations where the display and amplifier are not co-located. Bi-directional IR, RS-232 and CEC pass-through enable full system control from either end without additional cabling.

The transmitter unit accepts one S/PDIF input and delivers a single UTP output for extension over Cat6, Cat6a or Cat7 structured cabling. The receiver unit accepts the incoming UTP signal and provides an HDMI connection to the display or source device, with the eARC or ARC audio return path carried back over the same cable. Both units feature IR ports and detachable terminal block connectors for RS-232 control integration, allowing the EXA-100-EARC to operate alongside third-party control systems without additional hardware.

Audio path selection is managed via a two-position DIP switch on the receiver, enabling the installer to toggle between eARC/ARC and S/PDIF operation without any software configuration. In eARC mode, the unit passes the full suite of high-resolution formats: PCM 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS HD, DTS HD Master Audio and DTS:X. In ARC and S/PDIF modes, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, DTS HD and PCM 2.0 are supported, ensuring broad compatibility with existing amplification equipment.

The audio-only design makes the EXA-100-EARC a cost-effective solution for installations where video distribution is handled separately and only the audio return path requires extension. It is well suited to custom home theatre environments, multi-room audio systems and retrofit projects where eARC connectivity needs to be introduced without replacing existing structured cabling or AV distribution infrastructure.

Each unit is powered by a standard DC 5V 1A USB supply, with a maximum consumption of 3.582W, and the compact form factor of 120 x 25 x 70.2mm allows discreet installation in rack enclosures or concealed spaces. The EXA-100-EARC is supplied with both transmitter and receiver units, power supplies, IR emitter and receiver, mounting ears and a quickstart guide. It carries WyreStorm's five-year warranty and is certified to CE, FCC, RoHS, RCM, EAC and UKCA standards.
