As demand for high-definition video systems grows, certification positions professionals as elite experts in the field, enhancing their reputation and profitability. Completing the workshop and earning certification provides unique benefits, setting participants apart in a competitive and lucrative market. PVA video calibration certification is dependent upon the completion in class of 10 sample calibrations and an examination.

The course curriculum includes:

Level I: Core Training (2 Days)
• Day 1: Covers the history and importance of calibration, colour science fundamentals, image quality metrics (JND), and the basics of calibration setup. Hands-on labs explore brightness, contrast, signal optimisation, and screen uniformity.
• Day 2: Focuses on colour accuracy, sharpness, grayscale, and gamma calibration through practical labs. Additional topics include projector setup, anamorphic scaling, LUTs, and day/night modes. The session concludes with a course recap.

Level II: Advanced Training (2 Days)
• Day 1: Emphasises 4K and HDR calibration techniques, hands-on labs with advanced setups, the use of 3D LUTs, and addressing environmental factors like bias lighting.
• Day 2: Dives into advanced display technologies, focusing on UHD, Rec 2020 colour spaces, and HDR applications for flat panels and projectors. Ends with a discussion on future tech, certification, and integration of all concepts learned.

Cost
£1500 for Level I (2 Day) and Level II (2 Day). a 50% advanced deposit is required to confirm the booking and secure your place.

As the President of Lion Audio Video Consultants Inc. and founder of the Professional Video Alliance (PVA), Gregg has dedicated his career to advancing video quality through education, consulting, and certification. Over 25 years, he has optimised more than 4,000 private theatres, commercial cinemas, and post-production suites while championing adherence to internationally recognised video standards. His advocacy for video excellence is reflected in PVA’s mission to maximise image fidelity across industries.

Gregg has led groundbreaking projects for THX Ltd., including the creation of the THX Video Standards Program and serving as lead educator for its Video Calibration Program, delivering over 60 sessions globally. He has consulted for leading brands like ASUS, Samsung, Epson, and Panasonic, advancing their capabilities in video calibration and display innovation. Additionally, Gregg contributed to product development with Datacolor’s SpyderTV and served as an ISF Instructor. As a CEDIA Video Consultant and International Colourist Academy educator, Gregg remains a sought-after expert, shaping the future of video calibration worldwide.

DR JULIAN SCOTT is a distinguished video calibration expert and a leader in display optimisation and colour accuracy. He trained as a video calibrator in 2011 with THX and has since performed thousands of calibrations in production, post-production and residential install. He has been a video calibration instructor with THX and with the Professional Video Alliance since its inception. His expertise is frequently sought by industry professionals, and he has been featured on platforms such as The Home Cinema Design Podcast, and AVForums Podcast where he discusses all things video calibration and cinema design. In his role as Cinema Specialist at Habitech, Dr. Scott leverages his extensive experience to support integrators and clients in designing cutting-edge cinema systems. He has a passion to communicate the importance of video standards and the benefits of calibration to Habitech's clients.
