James 15" PowerPipe Passive BandPass Subwoofer, Marine and Outdoor IP65 Rated With TK8S-10X10-4 Architectural Toe Kick
Details
Inconspicuous by design, James’ PowerPipe Subwoofer offers a seamless fusion of discrete installation, visionary technology and revolutionary performance. This is truly reflected in the 15" Marine Power Pipe Subwoofer with an IP rating of IP65, provides a uniquely spacious soundscape and valuable protection from the elements.
Disappearing from view, this subwoofer is ideal for attic, cellars, wardrobes, entertainment centres or other available unused outdoor spaces. James’ bandpass design produces a thunderous performance while delivering smooth frequency response and tight transitions. Flexible tube allows for multiple port placement options. Rubber support straps suspend the PowerPipe between rafters, thus eliminating vibrations. The basic, yet effective, design behind the PowerPipe is to move large amounts of air through a relatively small hose, which resonates at a tuned frequency of about 35Hz. This is achieved through the design of the driver and surrounding sealed cabinet composition.
Because the woofer has been tuned with its acoustical peak in the region of frequencies where bass energy in music and film soundtracks tend to be greatest, the driver can operate at the frequencies within its linear cone excursion range and rely on the band pass flextube to simply amplify its output. Featuring all aluminium drivers mounted inside a sealed enclosure, the front of each unit features a sealed band pass port, where the flextube attaches and connects to the port. The PP15-M comes standard with a 15" aluminium woofer, housed inside a studio black cabinet. The standard flextube is 30" long and 8" in diameter and can be cut down to 24" without it affecting the tonal frequency range. A longer flextube can be ordered to accommodate various placement options but cannot be extended beyond 36" without it affecting the drivers tonal output.
James’ 15” Marine PowerPipe Subwoofer includes the standard toekick port option TK8S-10X10-4. The tube size is 101.6mm / 4” and has a 90° entry.
The PPM15-M 15" Marine PowerPipe Subwoofer can be powered by the optional James M1000 DSP amplifier, providing up to 1000W of power and full DSP control.
