The HOODY 2 is a round fire and acoustic speaker hood for all makes of 8" to 10" in-ceiling speakers, measuring 335mm in diameter and 180mm deep.
Once a speaker aperture is cut, a ceiling's fire performance is significantly reduced; the HOODY restores fire integrity for up to 90 minutes and, thanks to its acoustic construction, stops a large amount of rear sound leakage into the room above.
It complies with BS EN1363-1 2020 for up to 90 minutes, meeting and exceeding Document B of the Building Regulations, BS476 Parts 23 and 21, and the 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
The lightweight, flexible cover is squeezed through the speaker aperture and secured with the supplied pins through its fitting clips into 12mm plasterboard, with optional No.6 screws for 9mm plasterboard.
Hoods are required for in-ceiling speakers wherever a ceiling is rated for 30 minutes or more, typically every ground-floor speaker in a two-storey home, making the HOODY a sensible inclusion on every residential ceiling speaker installation..
