The purpose of a Radio Frequency (RF) IEEE 802.11 Predictive Site Survey is to provide an indicative number of access points but also a guide as to how the system will perform once deployed.

Each site is unique. The construction and content within a site i.e. walls, ceilings, large metal objects, etc may obstruct and/or reflect a radio signal. This may lead to areas of the site having “dead” or “shadow” areas if the access points are not placed in the optimum area for each site.

Please Note: Due to this report being a predictive survey Habitech Ltd still heavily advise that it should only be used as a guideline and will not represent the actual WAP performance on site 100% accurately. This report is to be used solely for indicative purposes only and not as a final AP placement document.

RSSI

The RSSI results represented the signal strength at the receiving client. Typically, networks are designed to have greater than -67dbm RSSI where the client is located. However, on a VOIP network this is over engineered to a reading of greater than -65dbm to ensure successful roaming without the call being interrupted.

Signal To Noise Ratio (SNR)

Signal To Noise Ratio indicates how much the signal strength is stronger than the noise i.e. cochannel interference. Signal must be stronger than noise of SNR greater than zero, for data transfer to be possible. If the signal is only barely stronger than noise, you may encounter occasional connection drop-offs
